Bath mat and virtual coach
The foot towel that recognises a biometric identification system
The weareables market continues to grow on a global scale. In 2021, Apple and Samsung continued to be the global leaders, although, evolution has been seen above all in smaller companies who are beginning to gain a foothold in the market.
In the final quarter of last year, sales volumes achieved historic levels. According to IDC data, 2021 has seen an increase of 34.4%.
“Wearable” or “carryable” technology emerged in the 1960s, but it wasn’t until 2010 when this technology evolved sufficiently to attract an extensive enough range of consumers and products. Smartwatches have been the first of many wearables, followed by glasses, backpacks, tattoos, waistcoats and jackets.
However, it doesn’t stop there. Houses have also become intelligent spaces, with beds that monitor your sleep levels or toilets that detect bowel problems. Today, we want to talk to you about the bathmat that knows you better than you know yourself.
Aparently, the BBalance looks like a simple towel for the shower. However, it has a full range of functions. The most basic option is weighing scales. You can find out your weight by simply standing on it. The creators of BBalance affirm that, among its objectives are to “redefine the perception of health of our bodies, which implies tracking more than just our weight, and to bring balance to our everyday life.”
The importance of the footprint reader
The mat contains a biometric identification system. It functions very much like the Face ID on iPhones, an intelligent system that, instead of analysing the owner’s eyes, analyses their feet.
Under the washable cloth, capable of recording up to 4,000 support points, which is why it is able to detect who is standing on the mat and differentiate between each person using it, recognising who it is simply by their footprint.
How does it work?
Its as easy as resting the sole of your foot on the weareable. The sensors incorporated into the mat are able to draw a map of the foot pressure, which is converted into the user’s “signature”. Also, they will be the only person that can access the data through the app.
What services does it offer?
Through Artificial Intelligence, the company has achieved accurate, fast and secure results. This technology enables the mat to measure the weight and body fat by analysing back posture, balance and the places in which most weight is accumulated.
And the best part of it all is that it includes a virtual coach! Through the app, you can access exercises and personalised postures to improve health and balance the body. Due to its advice on walking and sitting in the correct posture it is, without a doubt, the perfect solution for preventing back pain. It also offers nutritional recommendations based on the data obtained.
The shower mat is connected to a mobile using Bluetooth and also has Wifi connection. It has a battery with a life of up to 12 months.
The capacity of this device is a maximum of 200 kilos, and it can be used from 3 years of age.
